ABOUT US / AR STROLLAD
A new project by the main players from the former group Bara Gwin, Queen Amann performs Fest Noz (Night Party) music with daring and imagination. We are passionate about creating intense, beautiful, noteworthy music and delivering it to a global audience via recording and performance.
‘Queen Amann’ is a light-hearted bilingual pun on the delicious Breton pastry ‘kouign amann’ (butter cake), inspired by a humorous ad for a Breton language class.

ACCORDION FOR SALE
We're selling our Saltarelle 'Bourroche' 5-row, 84 bass, left hand 3+3, C system chromatic accordion. Location: Seattle, WA, USA.
It's in excellent condition and has been very discerningly fine-tuned (dry) by our talented local accordion technician, Michael J. Arralde. They sell new for $7000+: asking $4,000. Includes hard case and soft case. It has a gorgeous, sweet tonality, but the player needed a bigger box. Details on the Bourroche model can be found here: Bourroche.
3+3 allows you to build virtually all chords - you have major third + minor third (major chord), minor third + major third (minor chord), minor third + minor third (used to create a 7th and a diminished, and finally there is major third + major third (for an augmented fifth) which no standard accordion offers at all.

PLAY MUSIC WITH US!
What’s going on here: This is a new band with a solid body of quality material. We play Breton Fest Noz (Night Party) music, with a dose of jazz, rock, and other sounds. While it’s a traditional genre with a characteristic mood and feel (which we love), Fest Noz is an ideal platform for wide-open expression and experimentation. Time signatures and the tempo of the various tune types are the only significant constraint.
We/you are: a solid musician, friendly, inquisitive, relatively disciplined, interested in performing and recording. Jazz & rock chops a plus! We’d like to collaborate with other musicians along these lines: everyone pulls their weight musically, and respect, kindness, and professional honesty are the norm.
What instruments: Trumpet, cello, clarinet, sax, drums, violin, electric guitar, biniou, etc
Breton music? If you’re interested in genres like Balkan music or early jazz, you might like what we do. To better get the vibe, we have a downloadable playlist of genre material - just ask!
Process: We develop scores and sound files using MuseScore, which is free and available for Linux, Mac, and Windows. Rehearsals start in our woodwind player’s south Seattle home. You’d typically begin as a guest and see how it goes from there.
Contact us if you are interested or have questions.
INVITÉS
With the time-honored Breton duo format at the heart of the band, we look forward to high-quality musical encounters at whatever quantity is mutually agreeable; from a guest on a single recording track or one tune in a performance to part- or even full-time band members. SONA GREENBERG
(Chromatic Accordion, Fender Rhodes Piano) spent years as a jazz pianist and symphonic oboe player but found the accordion in her group The Splendour Girls. Her musicianship and phenomenal talent with composition and arrangement are essential ingredients in our sound.
RON REED
(Woodwinds) soaked his brain in Breton music to an unnatural degree starting in adolescence. He is a bombard (Breton oboe) player with a sound inspired by masters such as Youenn Le Bihan, Christian Faucheur, and Jean-Claude Petit. He also plays the tarogato, a single-reed instrument that beautifully combines aspects of two popular genre instruments: the soprano sax and the “piston” oboe.
